Maturity

Maturity

Be matured; why can’t you be matured? I am matured enough; her maturity speaks. We all would have come across such statement in our day to day life. But how many of us really know what maturity is? How can one act matured? When will one obtain maturity?

Maturity is the ability to respond to the environment in an appropriate manner. Maturity encompasses of being aware of the correct time and place to behave and knowing when to act according to the situation.

In short maturity is how we act or react to things or situation in the environment.

So, when will one attain maturity?

“Grades doesn’t define intelligence and Age doesn’t define maturity”.

To be matured, you need not color your hair grey. Many people think that maturity and age are interconnected. A few thinks, one attains maturity during their teens and a few thinks maturity is attain at old age or after marriage. But it is not true. Age and maturity are not parallel.

We see 60 year old people fighting for silly things while 6 year old kids controlling his/her desire by understanding their family situation. So this shows, even a 60 year old can act immaturely and even a 6 year kid can act matured.

Age has nothing to do with maturity. But experience does. Take the above one as example. A person who lives a sophisticated life has no ideas or need to get matured or act maturely even at their sixties. But a person who has experienced pain and knows what is responsibility, can be matured even at the tender age of ‘6’.

How can one act matured?

Mostly, if you control your words and emotion in front of people and control your mind when you’re alone, congratulations, you are then matured. Because if one act accordingly and correctly without any supervision, it is a sign of maturity.

Maturity of Differentiating:

When one starts understanding things better and differences among them, then the person is matured.

Let me give you a few examples,

If one can understand and differentiate between “’wants” and “needs”; “Love, lust and infatuation”; “reel and real life”; “inner light and darkness” and basically what is right and wrong. The person is matured.

Maturity of Emotions and Actions:

As we all have heard the common statement

“Matured speak less and listen more”

It is really true words. Because when we speak less we convey our thoughts in a very clear manner and tend to speak only at the perfect time and if we listen more, we could understand other’s thought, intentions, and words more effectively. This is one of the best sign of maturity.

If you can stop attaching “happiness” to luxurious things, then you are matured.

When you have a control of anger, you are matured. Because, when you control your anger, you start thinking logically and reason out the problem and eventually you solve it without any drama in a very composed manner. This is a sign of maturity too.

If you start to understand that crying is never a weakness but natural way to express our emotion and the source of outlet, you are matured enough. Then you start crying alone letting all your emotions out instead the showing it to the whole world.

If you realize that beauty matters, when I say it matters, I mean inner beauty and a clean and presentable demeanor, you are matured. When you realize that every single person is unique and respect their point of views without any judgments, you’re matured

If you reflect empathy and have started to take criticism in a healthy manner to improve yourself, then you’re matured.

And if you can understand the real reason behind someone’s frustration, pain, sadness, anger and you adjust to them by keeping quiet, showing that they’re heard, understood and loved for who they are. You are really really matured and an extraordinary human being.

A mature person will surely have enough patience to deal with problems, situation, basically people, so that if someone tries to hurt them, they are less affected. Whatever be the situation and who ever be the person, adopting to whatever it is. It is the best sign of being matured

“Maturity is not when we start speaking big things. It is when we start understanding small things.”

Life is about how well we connect with people. You may not be able to control every situation and its outcome, but you can control you attitude and how you deal with it. So, start understanding the meaning of maturity and age doesn’t matter for maturity. Grow more, understand more, start respecting people and their emotions, stop hiding and face everything, control your emotions and anger, stop fighting for silly things, give space to people even for your loved ones, and let people to speak and express. So be confident, be strong, be kind and be matured.
